Dr. Asad Mumtaz has joined SNS, NUST in October 2018. Since then, he has been actively involved in both academic and research activities. He has worked on synthesis of advanced functionalized nanomaterials and their integration in different types of solar cells; photoelectrochemical cells (photocatalytic water splitting), dye sensitized solar cells (DSSC) and perovskite solar cells. He also works on fuel-based cells like direct alcoholic-based fuel cells; electrooxidation of alcohols with hybrid electro-catalysts. Moreover, he has a contribution in the capturing of CO2 upon ionic liquids with controlled sorption processes. Not only capturing but photoreduction of CO2 to methanol using high performance and efficient photocatalysts is also a part of his contribution to the scientific society. Recently, he is working on developing the interfacial properties of semiconductor-carbon-based nanocomposites for their use in variety of applications. He has secured Start-up Research Grant Program (SRGP) funding of 0.5 million from Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan.
