Course Description
Chemistry is central to intellectual and technological advances in many areas of science and technology. The traditional boundaries between chemistry sub disciplines are blurring, and chemistry is overlapping with other science disciplines as well. The BS chemistry program is based on four years of education after higher secondary education. In the proposed program specialization courses are being offered in the areas of analytical chemistry/inorganic chemistry, nanochemistry, physical chemistry and organic chemistry. In this program courses to be studied in the first six semesters are compulsory, out of which, two courses; one in Semester III and one in semester V, are being offered from SCME, NUST, which include industrial chemical processes. Value addition has been ensured in BS Chemistry by offering liberty of opting two courses (one in 7th -Elective V and one in 8th Semester - Elective IX) from other Departments or Schools of NUST, subject to approval of Chemistry Department Head. Such choice of the specializations will allow the students to enhance industrial skills by registering in currently offered courses at NUST institutes.
BS Chemistry program of SNS will act as a feeder for its MS Chemistry by providing skilled graduates. NUST is among the best 500 universities in the world and we intend to produce graduates who can compete with students around the globe. The adequate knowledge of chemistry in specialized areas will provide a platform to our students for access to a wider job market.
In the proposed program specialization courses are being offered in the areas of analytical chemistry/inorganic chemistry, nanochemistry, physical chemistry and organic chemistry. More courses can be added based on market demand and expertise available.

Associated Careers:
Chemistry graduates in Pakistan traditionally pursue careers in education and research centers or go on for higher studies. Our BS Program not only keeps the requirement of these fields in mind but also equips students with skills that are needed in the modern industrial markets and R &D. SNS is acutely aware that we are a rapidly developing nation and our institutions require expert chemistry to fulfill their needs on urgent bases.
