PhD Electrical Engineering (Power) Program

Eligibility / Admission Criteria and Requirement of Program

Admission of the PhD student for the program will be based on GRE by ETS (General, minimum 60 percentile in Quantitative section) or GRE organized by USPCAS-E NUST (minimum 70 percent marks), previous academic record of the applicant, and the interview conducted by USPCAS-E, as per NUST rules. Intake of up to 05 PhD students is planned in the first year which will be increased progressively. The entry requirements for PhD Electrical Engineering (Power) are as follows:

§  MS in Electrical Engineering

§  MS in Energy Systems Engineering

§  MS in Electronics Engineering

§  MS in Computer Engineering

§  MS in Telecom Engineering

§  MS in Systems/Control Engineering

§  MS in other related disciplines

Scheme of Studies

·           The duration of the PhD Electrical Engineering (Power) program will be according to the existing policy of NUST for PhD.

·           The main program requires a minimum of 18 credit hour (CH) course work and a 30 CH research project which will be counted towards the thesis. The 48 CH plus 2 CH of research methodology will make a total of 50 CH.

·         Each student will be required to select, subject to approval of the supervisor/GEC, and pass three courses out of the first 15 power centric courses in the pool of courses.

·         Overall each student will be required to select, subject to approval of the supervisor/GEC, and pass a total of six courses from the pool of courses.
