 Dr. Mashhood Ahmad completed his Ph.D. in Quantum Optics and Seminconductor Electronics in 2005 and his Masters of Philosophy in Electronics in 1994, both from the same university, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan.  The topic of his Masters of Philosophy dissertation was: “Four-Wave Mixing in Semiconductor”. During his studies he joined Pakistan Army as Instructor. After completion of his Masters of Philosophy he got a couple of postings at Army training institutions. He joined PhD program of Department of Electronics at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan again in 1999 and completed it in 2005. His PhD work was focused on Phase Space Measurement of Entangled Quantum states. He managed to publish his research work in leading International Journals. He joined NUST as faculty member in 2002. Since then he offered a number of courses both at undergraduate and Post graduate levels. Currently, he is posted as faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering at College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering which is a constituent college of NUST, where he is part of the Semiconductor Electronics research group along with teaching specialized courses in Semiconductor Electronics at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. He guides the students in their undergraduate and Post graduate research projects in the domains of semiconductor materials and devices, energy harvesting and MEMS devices.

​Areas of interest include Quantum Optics, Semiconductor Materials for Gas Sensing, EMI Shielding, Work Function Based Energy Harvesters and MEMS Structures.
