Course Description

MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering ​

The curriculum of the program has been developed to equip the students with in-depth knowledge of Mechanical Engineering and develop technical skills for design and operation of mechanical systems.
The course is being offered in four specialized areas namely; Product and Manufacturing Systems Design, Computational Mechanics, Control Systems and Thermo-fluids. Each System has its own pool of elective courses. The core courses deal with modeling and simulation techniques, optimization tools and techniques, finite element methods and advanced mathematics. The Department is actively carrying out research in the areas of Composite Materials, Energy Efficient Buildings, Renewable Energy and Manufacturing Optimization.

This program enables graduates to acquire training in the theory and practice of a broad range of industrially relevant topics within the fields of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. It is designed specifically to meet the needs of the modern engineer both in industry and in research or education establishments. After completion of this course, the students will be able to analyze and manufacture various components of a host of machinery i.e., gas turbines, control devices, jet engines and power plants, and develop more efficient ways to keep them running smoothly.
