The Symposium was organized by Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers Pakistan on 16-17 March-2016 at Pearl Continental Hotel, Karachi.The symposium is being held every year for the last 30 years. The inauguralsession was chaired by Mr Tayyab Tareen, CEO K-Electric and there were 08 key note speakers from various industries in different technical sessions.
The guest of honor for Track-5 “IEEEP Student Seminar Best/Top Papers was NUST-PNEC Commandant, Cdre Dr Nassar Ikram, SI(M). The session was chaired by Dr Syed Nazeer Alam. In the session 02 x best and 02 x top papers were presented by NUST-PNEC. The 02 x best paper winner were supervised by Dr Faisal Amir and 02 x top paper winners worked under the supervision of AP Farhan and Dr Sajjad Haider Zaidi respectively. One best and 01 x top paper was presented by SSUET students. Before the session was closed, award distribution ceremony was held and guest of honour awarded medals, certificates, cash prizes and shields to the winning students. At the end the winning trophy was presented to NUST-PNEC student Miss Ammara Tanveer and her supervisor Capt Dr Faisal Amir PN, Dean Electronic & Power
Engineering. The guest of honor for the discussion panel and closing session was Engr Javed Qureshi, Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council.

Furthermore, the following 03 technical papers were presented in the symposium by NUST-PNEC faculty and students.
a.    Track-4: Computer/Software engineering, the title was “Fuzzy Logic Implementation of Canny Edge Detection Algorithm” by M Subhan Hameed and Syed Nazeer Alam.
b.    Track-1:  Electrical/Power Engineering/Alternate Energy, the title was “Active and Reactive Power Flow Control of UPFE” by Syed Adeel Abdullah, Madiha Tanveer and Sajjad Zaidi.
c.    Track-1:  Electrical/Power Engineering/Alternate Energy, the title was “Concentrated Solar Power Potential, economical and Environmental Benefits in Pakistan” by Sajid Mehmood, Akif Nadeem and Syed Nazeer Alam.
