Dr. John is Tenured Associate Professor at Atta-Ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB), NUST. Dr John has made an excellent progress in research, teaching & administration. He joined NUST in the year 2008 after finishing his PhD and then proceeded for his Post Doctorate from Royal Holloway, University of London, UK. Dr. John served as Head of the department Healthcare Biotechnology (2012-2014) and as Principal ASAB (2013-2019). He is actively involved in teaching core & optional courses including Molecular Biology, Gene Therapy & Advances in Molecular Biology at UG & PG levels. Dr. John’s research group is interested to improve the diagnosis and management of diseases through a better understanding of the basic pathogenetic mechanisms that cause and sustain these conditions. The Immunogenetics group has also been particularly interested in developing new biomarkers for disease diagnosis for commercial use. The Group works in collaboration with national and international universities.
Dr. John’s research group is focusing to discover the indigenous flora of Pakistan with the ultimate aim of identifying a potential phytobiologic which could be developed into a prospective cost effective therapeutic agent against inflammatory disorders.

Major Research Projects:
Evaluation of untapped antiinflammatory potential of natural compounds against Rheumatoid arthritis
Diagnostic and Prognostic Biomarkers of Arthritis in Pakistani Population
