Dr. M. Qasim Hayat earned his PhD degree from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad.Dr. Qasim's research group is working in two key areas of plant biotechnology. One is Plant Systematics and Evolution and other one is Medicinal Plants. In former, the key plant groups are Cyperaceae (Sedges) and Artemisia (Asteraceae). In latter ones, the main focus is on biological activities and isolations of botanicals form western Himalayan  region plants. In addition to this, he contributed in various national and international collaborative projects in the field of biology and biomedical sciences.
