Muhammad Suhail Rizwan of NUST Business School successfully defended his thesis titled “An Empirical investigation on the wealth protection function of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)”, and was awarded the degree of PhD in Management Sciences on 07 July, 2017.
His thesis was supervised by Dr. Asfia Obaid and Dr. Dawood Ashraf, and the GEC members included Dr. Naukhez Sarwar (NBS), Dr. Sarah Shafiq Khan (NBS) and Dr. Abdul Rashid (IIU). His thesis was evaluated by external Local Examiner, Dr. Attiya Javaid (PIDE) and Foreign Examiners, Dr. Karl Felixon from Hanken Business School (Finland) and Dr. Ishaq Bhatti form La Trobe University (Australia).
Mr. Suhail Rizwan completed his course work with CGPA of 3.75/4 and fulfilled other PhD requirements by publishing one paper from his thesis, titled “The Impact of Social Capital on Financial Reporting: A Dynamic Panel Model of the Auditors‘ Trust and Corporate Social Responsibility by US Firms,” in the Pakistan Journal of Social Sciences, an HEC recognized Journal. He has also presented the paper titled “The Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on Default Risk: Empirical evidence from US Firms,” in the World Finance Conference at the St. Jones University, New York, USA.
In addition to these publications he also has two other HEC recognized journal publications including one in an ISI Indexed Impact Factor journal and three conference papers presented in international conferences, with two winning the ‘Best Paper Award’. Currently two of his research papers are under review in international journals.
The thesis defense began with the M. Suhail Rizwan presenting his thesis, which was followed by the question answer session with the audience and ended with comments and questions from the GEC.
