The Research Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management (RCEIM) at NUST Business School held the Build-A-Startup@NBS workshop on 22nd & 23rd July, 2017. This workshop was aimed at budding entrepreneurs to help them polish and scale their business ideas, using entrepreneurial tools, such as, Designing Value Proposition, Customer Discovery & Validation and Business Model Canvas. The participants were encouraged to develop their respective "Minimum Viable Products" which were later tested out with potential customers.
The workshop gave a confidence boost to emerging startups, most of which were at ideation stage. A few had developed prototypes. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Madiha Parvez and Dr. Sarah Khan and the mentor sessions were facilitated by seasoned entrepreneurs and industry specialists, Ms. Samar Hasan, Mr. Adnan Shafi, Mr. Ibraheem Ahmad, Mr. Waqar Chatta, Mr. Sarfraz Kiyani and Mr. Saif Akhtar from 10XC.
The final 5 minutes pitches were judged by Mr. Sayyed Ahmad Masud, CEO Change Mechanics and Ms. Atifa Asghar, Director B2B North, Telenor Pakistan. There were two winning categories, "Idea Most Likely to Change the World" and "Idea Most Likely to Raise Capital".
Team We are VR+ won the first category, Idea Most Likely to Change the World, where their virtual reality product aimed at Linking Virtual Reality to Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Satellite Remote Sensing and Building information modeling. The second category, Idea Most Likely to Raise Capital, was won by team Tabedaar, an app based solution facilitating grocery shopping.
