​Dr Mustafa is currently serving as Associate Professor at the NUST Business School. He has over 16 years of teaching and research experience in Pakistan as well as foreign countries including New Zealand and Brazil. Mustafa has a PhD in Strategic Management from Massey University, New Zealand. His research interests include strategy, management, leadership, governance, entrepreneurship and innovation in corporations. He has a particular interest in the strategy and management of multinational firms and their subsidiaries.

Mustafa is fairly active in research and has published extensively in internationally reputed peer-reviewed journals and reviews for a number of international journals. He is an HEC Approved PHD Supervisor and has supervised numerous theses to completion. ​​​

​Mustafa is mainly interested in issues in strategy and management of multinational firms and their subsidiaries. His most recent research is about the roles, strategy, contribution and sustainability practices of foreign multinational firms in Pakistan. Mustafa welcomes MS and PhD students in the following areas:
