Dr. Muhammad Sabir holds a PhD in economics from Department of Spatial Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He also has MAS in Applied Economics from Applied Economics Research Center (AERC), University of Karachi and MA Economics from University of Peshawar. In past, he has worked as an Associate Professor and Head of Department of Management Sciences, Ghulam Ishaq Khan (GIK) Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Prior to start a regular academic career, he served Planning Commission, Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms, Government of Pakistan as being part of the Economist Group.

    ​Dr. Muhammad Sabir has worked for planning Commission, Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, Government of Pakistan from December 2004 till January 2014 as being part of the Economist Group. This period also include his five year PhD period during which he stated abroad for his PhD studies.  Dr. Sabir has worked in a number of sections of planning commission these include, Plan Coordination Section, Money, prices and Fiscal Policy section, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission office, new growth strategy team member, and China- Pakistan Economic Corridor Section.  He has the opportunity to work directly with Dr. Nadeem ul Haq, the then Deputy Chairman Planning Commission on number of tasks related to economic policy matters.
