International Seminar held at NICE(SCEE) on Design of Tall Buildings: Trends and advances for Structural Performance

NUST Institute of Civil Engineering (NICE),SCEE  in collaboration with Asian Institute of Technology (AIT),  organized an International Seminar followed by an International Workshop on broader theme of “Design of Tall Buildings: Trends and advances for Structural Performance” from 24 to 25 April 2017 at the NICE(NUST Institute of Civil Engineering), (NUST), H-12 Sector, Islamabad, Pakistan. 

 The objective of the seminar and the workshop was to enhance and strengthen the capacities of practicing engineers as well as organizations dealing with the design of tall buildings in Pakistan in understanding the latest trends and developments in performance-based design and analysis. It has also provided an introduction to resilience-based design which is a developing field of new research. The key objectives of the short course were:

  • To introduce the participants to the concepts and framework Tall Buildings analysis and design.

  • To familiarize and demonstrate the techniques used in design and analysis of innovative structural systems.

  • To introduce the participants to the basics concepts of structural health monitoring and highlight its prospective application in CPEC    projects in Pakistan.

  • To give a hands-on experience of using the modern Softwares for dynamic analysis and design of Tall Buildings.​
