Faculty Achievements
IGIS faculty is recognized nationally & internationally  for highly cited research. Many international organizations including United Nations, International Centre for Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA), PLAN International, ICIMOD International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development and national funding agencies like HEC (Higher Education Commission of Pakistan) are continuously engaged with IGIS in various geospatial projects. A glimpse of achievement is ICIMOD (International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development) quotes about award winning project titled "Geo-informatics based landslide early warning system" supervised by Mr. Muhammad Ahsan Mahboob (Ex. Lecturer IGIS)

The Institute for Geographical Information Systems (IGIS) has developed a wireless sensor network that integrates GIS information to identify landslide-prone areas in mountainous areas. The system works in real-time updating a web portal that residents can access to learn about potential hazards in their living areas or along their travel routes.
