Lecturer Muhammad Asim has been serving at the Department of Geotechnical Engineering since Fall 2016. He holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA) and an Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from NUST, Islamabad. Besides being involved in departmental research, he is an active consultant in industrial projects and serves as a Principal Investigator on Smart Dynamic Isolation Technology at the National Science and Technology Park, NUST.
Has undertaken extensive projects in the following areas:
1) Site Improvement (MICP, Chemical and mechanical enhancements)
2) Experimental Geomechanics and Soil Structure Interaction
3) Geotechnical Centrifuge Modelling
4) Dam and embankment engineering
5) Geothermal Energy Piles

6) Tunnelling in Soil and Rock​

  1. Conference Paper titled "Characteristic Response of MICP Treated Loose Sand)" to be presented and published in the proceedings of ICGRE 2020 (Portugal).
  2. Conference Paper titled "Geotechnical Characterization of Foundation Systems (Integrating Software Development)" presented and published in the proceedings of CONSTENG 2014 (Istanbul).
  3. Conference Paper titled "Soil Bearing Capacity Modelling (A Case Study on Rawalpindi and Islamabad)" presented and published in the proceedings of ICMTSET 2014 (Dubai).

  1. Substructure design for a 10 storey parking plaza for  Bestway Cement, Pakistan.  Work included studying the geotechnical investigation report, laboratory results, stratigraphy, structural loading and providing a design for drilled shafts (February 2018)   
  2. Designing the shallow foundation system for the Honda Center facility.   Work included the application of geotechnical theorems and principles of structural engineering for the design of spread footings for the facility using investigation reports and structural loads (January 2018).​​
