SEECS Farewell 18
8th May, 2018
Every year at SEECS, the junior batch organises a farewell party in the honour of graduating batch. The event is organised for the seniors to cherish the moments that became their memories, people who became family and the place that became their home. Seniors are bid a warm farewell as they step out from the comforts of their university life and into the professional life that awaits them beyond the gates of NUST.
The theme of the event was Desi meets Walayeti: a desi mehndi setup with mesmerising western décor, incorporated with desi music with a dance floor and disco lights. In short, a complete amalgam of modern Bhangra. All this merged with the entrée of Walayati seniors in tuxedos and saaris. Whereas in contrast, we had our desi Junior year boys and girls in shimmering desi Kurtas and Lehengas.
The NUST-SEECS Farewell Party took place on May 8, 2018, which was an extremely vibrant affair. A night full of loud Punjabi music, extravagant colours and lots of Bhangra! The event was organised at SEECS ground. The event catered to a total of 650 people, out of which 304 were senior year students, 320 junior year students and the rest were faculty members. The bright lighting of the tent was impeccable, the excellent music system also added to the charm of the evening and ensured that the performances could be enjoyed to the fullest by the audience.
The event was organised by the junior year batch presidents Asjad Behzad Butt and Warda Binte Masna. In order to facilitate this process, Sadia Naseer, Vice Chair of P&P, was assigned from SGA as the mentor for the event along with the Chair of P&P, Aqsa Imran. Treasurer SGA, Shaur Khaqan handled the funds of the event.
During the preparation for the event, a faculty vetting team led by Mr. Moin Ud Din, provided guidance to the students with regards to vetting of the performances. They helped in ensuring that all the material presented before the audience on the event day was in compliance with the disciplinary rules of NUST and the general acceptable norms of the society. Their insight and perspective were vital to arrange a good program.

Principal’s Speech
At the end of the programme, Dr. Syed Muhammad Hassan Zaidi, Principal of SEECS, an illustrious researcher and practitioner in IT education, addressed the students in his speech and highlighted the importance of spreading positivity no matter what we do in life, as this can bring a lot of good for us as a nation. He expressed his best wishes for the graduating students for all their future endeavors as they embark on a new journey soon. He put into words his hope that the efforts of all our faculty members go a long way in shaping the character of our students in all fields of life. He also congratulated the winners of Microsoft imagine cup competition on bringing the school glory. He went on to admire the efforts of the students in successfully organizing this event and appreciated the performers for their amazing performances that filled color to the event.
The vibrant performances by the junior batch were the main attraction at the Farewell. They interacted with the audience in a light-hearted manner often poking fun of their experiences of university life to entertain their seniors.
Funny titles were given to the prominent people of the graduating batch according to what distinguished their personality from the rest. Energetic desi and western dance performances under the bright disco lights kept the audience spell bounded throughout. The event came to an end with the senior batch joining in on the celebration and dancing alongside their juniors to Punjabi bhangra music.
