Workshop on Introduction to the Internet of Things

5th-6th May, 2018

A two-day workshop on "Introduction to the Internet of Things (IoT)" was held on May 5 to 6, 2018 at SEECS. The workshop was organised by Dr. Rafia Mumtaz along with Ms. Hirra Anwar and Ms. Sana Khalique. The students of BESE-7 participated in the workshop. The first day of workshop mainly covered talk on Introduction to the Internet of Things, its basic building blocks, and its applications and key challenges. There was a comprehensive lecture on Arduino board and related electronics, which was followed by plenty of hands-on exercises using Arduino and various sensors. The second day of the workshop covered the demonstration of connecting sensors to cloud using WiFI shield and several hands-on exercises using Arduino, sensors, and Arduino Simulator. The students were also assigned small projects in groups which they were supposed to complete in 1.5 hrs. The winning and runner-up teams were awarded cash prizes.

Students showed keen interest in the workshop activities and provided a very positive feedback. They also mentioned that such events should be organised on regular basis in order to increase their learning on emerging technologies.
