Dr. Asim Waris is a graduate in Mechatronics Engineering from College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology. He worked for Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission from 2013-2015. He did his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Department of Health and Science Technology, Aalborg University.

He is serving as Assistant Professor at Biomedical Engineering and Sciences Department of SMME-NUST. He is the principal investigator of Electromyography and Brain Computer Interface Lab and works in the area of neural and rehabilitation engineering, human motor learning, biomedical signals processing, and invasive recordings based myoelectric control for upper limb prosthetics.​​​​
