NUST School of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering (SMME) conducts vocational training for machinists, welders and supervisory technicians during summer of every year. United We Reach (UWR), a nonprofit based in USA has been supporting the vocational training since 2016.On Thursday, 3rd August 2017 , a kit distribution ceremony was held at SMME for participants of the 2016 training course. Ms. Sabahat Rafiq; Executive Director of United We Reach (UWR) was the chief guest at the ceremony and distributed essential tool kits to the participants who underwent training at MRC during summer 2016. She was welcomed by Vice Principal SMME, Engr. Muhammad Sohail upon her arrival at the School.
Deputy Director Manufacturing Resource Centre and Head of Vocational Training program, Engr. Naveed ul Hasan, in his welcome remarks shared the progress of vocational training since its inception in 2013. He also shared success stories and highlighted the impact generated by using the facility during summer break for community service. He also shared that MRC is equipped with modern engineering machines and provides an environment for better learning techniques of manufacturing.
Ms. Sabahat Rafiq congratulated the participants in a very inspiring address, sharing the importance of hard work and entrepreneurship for personal growth. She also encouraged the participants to continue the learning process and keep enhancing their skills. She also shared her resolve to continue supporting the project and work with NUST to enhance its scope. She later distributed kits to the participants, which will enable them to start earning immediately.
