NCSC Blood Donation Drive ’14

NUST Community Services Club (NCSC) organized a Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with Armed Forces Institute of Transfusion (AFIT) on November 17, 18 and 19, 2014, at Institute of Geographical Information Systems (IGIS) ground from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

NCSC BDD'14 lived up to its high expectations, as all 3 days brought in huge numbers of people arriving to donate blood, waiting in queues for their turns.

Blood samples were drawn and the weights of the donors measured, to confirm eligibility. The medical staff headed by AFIT took all possible measures to ensure the safety of the donors, and monitored them throughout the process, giving immediate attention to those who showed any signs of weakness.

NCSC showed their gratitude towards the donors by treating them to fruit juice and snacks as a way of replenishing their energy levels after the donation. The volunteers were also photographed at Pic-A-Booth, so they would have a memento of their altruism to take home.

Overall, the donation drive was quite a success, as 126 pints (from 84 boys and 42 girls) of blood were collected on the first day, 151 pints (from 115 boys and 36 girls) were collected on the second, and 100 pints (from 79 boys and 21 girls) were collected on the third, totaling 377 pints. The event proved to be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to avail the platform provided by NCSC and make a difference by contributing to society’s life stream!
