NSTP represented at IASP World Conference 2019

The International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) is a global network of science/technology/research parks, innovation districts and other areas of innovation, which drives growth and internationalisation, enhances business opportunities and global visibility of its members. IASP has 7 regional divisions including Africa, Asia Pacific, Eurasia, Europe, Latin America, North America and WANA (West Asia and North Africa). NUST’s flagship project – the National Science & Technology Park (NSTP) – has been a full member of the IASP since 2015, and is an active participant in the IASP World Conference that takes place every year in different member countries. The 36th IASP World Conference is taking place from 24-27 September this year at Atlanpole, Nantes, Western France. Atlanpole is a science-based business incubator, and a driving force of the Greater Nantes Area of Innovation, comprising several STPs, incubators and accelerators. 
This year’s World Conference of the IASP, with the theme "The 4th Industrial Revolution: Areas of Innovation and Science Parks as Key Boosters for a Successful Transition," has brought together experts from STPs and other areas of innovation, technology-based incubators, academia, the public sector and businesses. 
Pro-Rector Research Innovation & Commercialisation (RIC) and Vice President NSTP, Dr Nassar Ikram, is representing NSTP and NUST at the World Conference in Nantes, France, networking with IASP members from all over the globe, sharing ideas and knowledge, and exchanging experiences. The NSTP, housed at NUST’s Islamabad campus, has brought together champions from 8 sectors of the economy, including Agri Tech, FinTech, Health Tech and others. It is housing 4-5 anchor tenants, 20-30 hi-tech SMEs, and 20-30 startups. 
During his visit, Dr Nassar has met with prominent IASP members including Mr Paul Krutko, President IASP and CEO & President Ann Arbor SPARK USA; Mr Luis Sanz, Director General IASP; and Dr Herbert Chen, Executive Board member IASP and Vice President Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark), China.
