Team NCSAEL (NUST Cyber Security Auditing and Evaluation Lab) were declared winners amongst the Pakistani teams participating at OIC-CERT (Cyber Emergency Response Team) Cyber Drill, organised by Pakistan Information Security Association (PISA), which was held on September 17, 2019, in Islamabad. In total, various teams belonging to 16 OIC (Organisation of Islamic Cooperation) countries participated in the Cyber Drill, which was hosted by the State of Oman. From Pakistan, a total of 5 teams participated including: PISA, NCSAEL, Air University, COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL), along with 4 independent private hacker groups.
The participating countries were given a total of 6 Injects/requirements, all of which were responded to by Pakistan. Team NCSAEL presented 4 out of the total 6 responses by Pakistan, while the other 2 were other participants’ responses. In the end Pakistan was declared first amongst the 16 countries and team NCSAEL outshone all Pakistani participants. The event was covered by both national and international media.
