NUST signs MoU with North China Electric Power University (NCEPU), in Beijing, China
NUST signed an MoU with North China Electric Power University (NCEPU) on December 4, 2018, in Beijing, China. Lt Gen Naweed Zaman, HI (M), (Retd), Rector NUST and President NCEPU, Prof Yong Yongping, signed an agreement to establish partnership on the Belt and Road Energy Institute. This partnership will promote cross-boundary mobility and education for faculty, students, engineers and managers from Chinese and Pakistani universities and corporations.

The Belt and Road Energy Institute was established by NCEPU on September 29, 2018, to provide degree or non-degree education, training courses, and think-tank consultation to the energy projects jointly established by China and Belt and Road countries.

Under this MoU, NUST and NCEPU will collaborate and share their resources specifically towards joint energy ventures by Chinese and Pakistani corporations, aimed at fulfilling HR needs of CPEC energy projects and associated consultancies. Both institutions will focus on energy-centred projects: undergraduate degree programme (under 2+2 arrangement, i.e. 2 years each at NUST and NCEPU); postgraduate and PhD degree and non-degree programmes; joint training programmes conducted by NUST and NCEPU; and joint consultation programmes to provide professional consultation on local laws, business operations and other business related issues. All these programmes will be financially supported by Chinese and Pakistani corporations, currently operating their businesses in Pakistan.
