NUST Ranked 417th in the QS world UNIVERSITY RANKING 2019


National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) has risen to a more coveted position in the league of world’s top higher education institutions, as per the latest HEI rankings (2019) released on June 6, 2018, by the world’s leading ranking agency-Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Having ascended 20 positions from the previous year and 111 positions in the last 2 years, NUST is now well-placed at 417th position globally.  

QS ranks universities both at world and regional level, besides other ranking categories, such as subject ranking and young universities under the age of 50 years. NUST has prominently and consistently figured among all categories since 2007. Apart from being ranked in the top 100 Asian Universities, NUST is also ranked at 61st position among international universities aged under 50, highest ever by any Pakistani university. In addition, NUST was ranked among top 400 universities of the world in Graduate Employability Ranking (GER).

The QS University rankings are carried out on the basis of teaching & research quality, academic / employer reputation, citation per paper, paper per faculty and internationalisation measures taken by the university. Improved scores in academic reputation, employer reputation and citations per faculty helped NUST further consolidate its position this year.


NUST IMPROVES ITS QS UNIVERSITY RANKING 2018 



National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad has marked another milestone by clinching a position among 500 world top universities announced by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK on 8th June, 2017.  NUST is now ranked 437th in the world, 91 places higher than its previous world Universities Rankings. The ranking is carried out on the basis of research quality, teaching quality, academic reputation, employer’s reputation, citation per paper, paper per faculty, staff with PhD and internationalization measures taken by the university.

NUST has also risen to even greater prominence as per the latest QS Top 50 under 50 ranking announced on 13th July, 2017.  This category is designed to highlight the performance of universities whose performances in teaching and research are increasingly impressive considering their age and resources. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad has improved its ranking to # 61 position compared to # 74 last year globally.

Rector NUST, Lieutenant General Naweed Zaman (Retired) has congratulated the administration and faculty of all NUST constituent institutions for their consistent efforts that enabled University achieve excellence. At the same time he reminded the academia and researchers that in the competitive world of today there is no room for complacency. He emphasized for continuous hard work and excellence as the way forward for whole team.​​

NUST IN QS WORLD U​NIVERSITY RANKING 2014-15





National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad has maintained its coveted position in the list of Top 500 world universities in the 2014-15 ranking announced on 16 September, 2014 by M/S Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) of UK, the most prestigious ranking agency of the world. NUST is the only Pakistani university which is consistently included in this ranking list since 2007. Moreover, in the field of Engineering and technology, NUST has been ranked 398th in the world. This is the result of concerted effort put in by the NUST management and faculty for providing quality education, conducting innovative research, establishing international linkages, engaging in collaborative research with leading international universities / organizations, participating in international exchange programs, improving infrastructure, and producing graduates who are welcomed by national / international industry, business, academia and market. Rector NUST, Engr Muhammad Asghar, has felicitated the management and faculty of all NUST constituent Institutions for playing their role effectively. He has also thanked HEC, MoST and services headquarters for providing continued support and guidance which enabled NUST to achieve this honour.  

NUST IN QS WORLD U​NIVERSITY RANKING 2013-14 




Many Successful universities in the main 2013/14 QS World University Ranking table are more than one hundred years old but hand in hand with the global nature of higher education, National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has won its place in the List of ‘Top 500 World Universities’, and is the only Pakistani university maintaining this honor since 2007. Keeping up the highest traditions of excellence in​ providing quality education and research, NUST has attained 485th position in the ranking list of 2013/14. This is the result of hard work put in by the NUST management and faculty in terms of improving infrastructure, providing quality education, conducting innovative research, establishing international linkages, engaging in collaborative research with leading international universities / organizations, participating in international exchange programs and producing graduates who are welcomed by national / international industry, business, academia and market. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has won its place in the List of ‘Top 500 World Universities’, and is the only Pakistani university maintaining this honor since 2007 as per the ranking carried out by the world’s most renowned and prestigious ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) is included in the list of ‘Top 500 World Universities’ as per the ranking carried out by the world’s most renowned and prestigious ranking agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK. Responding to the aspiration of the employers, governments, and students NUST has attained 426th position in the ranking list of 2011. The National University of Science and Technology (NUST) has won its place in the List of ‘Top 400 World Universities’, since 2008, and is the ​first and the only university of Pakistan to achieve this unprecedented honor as per the ranking carried out by the world’s most renowned and prestigious ranking agency, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), UK. Keeping up the highest traditions of excellence in providing quality education and research, NUST has attained 366th position in the ranking list of 2010. Besides the overall ranking of different universities, QS also prepares Subject-wise Rankings, wherein NUST has been placed in the list of “Top 300 World Universities” in the subjects of Engineering & IT (Rank: 274), Arts and Humanities (Rank: 274). National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) in 2008 won its place in the List of ‘Top 400 World Universities’. Out of about 30,000 Universities around the world, NUST became the first and the only university of Pakistan to achieve this unprecedented honour by improving its rank from 470 (in 2007) to 376 (in 2008) as per the ranking carried out by the world’s most renowned and prestigious ranking agency Times Higher Education and Quacquarelli Symonds (THE~QS), UK.  Such a gigantic leap in only one year’s time, in a highly competitive environment of higher education at the global level wherein top universities of the world like Harvard, Yale, Cambridge, Oxford, MIT etc. are included, is no small achievement.  Keeping up the highest traditions of excellence in providing quality education and research, NUST has continued its rise on the most arduous path and achieved 350th position in the ranking list of 2009 surpassing another 26 high ranking universities of the world. Besides overall ranking of the universities, THE-QS also prepares Subject-wise Ranking, wherein NUST has been placed in the list of “Top 300 World Universities” in the subjects of Engineering & IT (Rank: 285), Life Sciences & Biomedicine (Rank: 293) and Natural Sciences  (Rank: 260).  It speaks volumes of the hard work put in by the NUST management and faculty in terms of improving infrastructure, providing quality education, conducting innovative research, establishing international linkages, engaging in collaborative research with leading international institutions / organizations, participating in international exchange programs and producing graduates who are welcomed by national / international industry, business, academia and market. National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) has won its place in the most prestigious ranking list of ‘Top 500 World Universities’ published by Times Higher Educations Supplement (THES).

 NUST is the first public sector university in Pakistan to achieve this unique honour.  The ranking list is prepared on the basis of the grades secured by the universities in the areas of Peer Review, Citations per Faculty, Recruiter Review, International Faculty, International Students and Student Faculty ratio.
