ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION ON ACT / SAT BASIS



  • NUST has a few ACT / SAT specific seats in undergraduate programmes for national candidates for which a separate merit list is prepared. The weighting of ACT / SAT score will be in lieu of NUST Entry Test weighting.
  • ACT is conducted by ACT, USA. For more information on ACT, visit their website at www.act.org.
  • NUST institutional code to receive ACT scores is 2915. ACT scores are valid for 2 years.
  • SAT Test is a computer-based test held under the management of College Board, USA. For more information on SAT, visit their website at www.collegeboard.com.
  • NUST institutional code to receive SAT scores is 2790. SAT scores are valid for 2 years.
  • Last date for ACT / SAT scores to reach NUST is 20 July 2023. Scores received after the deadline will not be entertained.
  • It is the responsibility of the candidate to provide the ACT / SAT scores on the given address by due date:

Undergraduate Section, Registrar Directorate,
National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST),
Sector H-12, Islamabad, Pakistan.

  • Separate application form is available on NUST website for applying on ACT / SAT basis.
  • Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in SSC / equivalent and HSSC/equivalent exams.
  • All non FSc stream candidates having qualifications like Cambridge Overseas Higher School Certificate, British General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level), American High School Graduation Diploma (9-12th Grade), International Baccalaureate Diploma (DP) or any other equivalent qualification must have equivalence certificate of their qualification, duly obtained from IBCC, Pakistan in relevant groups/subjects and with minimum 60% marks.
  • Candidates of O/A level or any other foreign qualification are advised to contact IBCC, Pakistan for issuance of equivalence certificates as per university requirements with more than 60% marks in required subjects / group, well in time. Any deficiency of subjects or non-provision of IBCC equivalence certificate before start of classes will lead to cancellation of admission at any stage.
  • Desirous candidates can avail the facility accordingly, provided they meet the specified eligibility criteria.

Engineering

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent (Science Group) and HSSC/equivalent exams (Pre-Engineering Group) / Computer Science Group (Maths, Physics and Computer Studies / Computer Science).

ACT Requirement

ACT Composite Score (Minimum score to apply – 25) 

BS Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / BE Information Security

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent (Science Group) and HSSC/equivalent exams (Pre-Engineering Group / Computer Science Group (Maths, Physics and Computer Studies / Computer Science)).

ACT Requirement

ACT Composite Score (Minimum score to apply – 25)

BS Biotechnology

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent (Science Group) and HSSC/equivalent exams (Pre-Medical Group) OR an equivalent qualification like A level or any other foreign qualification with three (3) subjects out of which Biology and Chemistry are essential subjects.

BS Data Science

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in O level (SSC) equivalence of “Science group” and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Engineering group” OR “Computer Science group” including Maths, Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science/Computer Studies as mandatory subjects OR “Pre-Medical group” including Biology, Physics & Chemistry.

BS Bioinformatics

Academic Requirement

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in O level (SSC) equivalence of “Science group” and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Engineering group” OR “Computer Science group” including Maths, Physics, Chemistry/Computer Science/Computer Studies as mandatory subjects OR “Pre-Medical group” including Biology, Physics & Chemistry.

BS Food Sciences and Technology

Academic Requirement

Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in O level (SSC) equivalence of “Science group” and A level (HSSC) equivalence of “Pre-Medical group” OR “Pre-Engineering” group with three subjects including Biology / Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as mandatory subjects

B Architecture and B Industrial Design

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent with Maths & Physics as essential subjects and HSSC/equivalent exams (Pre-Engineering / Computer Science Group) OR any other foreign qualification with three (3) subjects out of which Mathematics and Physics  are essential subjects.

BS Mathematics

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent and HSSC/equivalent exams OR any other foreign qualification with three (3) subjects out of which Mathematics is an essential subject.

BS Physics

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent and HSSC/equivalent exams OR any other foreign qualification with three (3) subjects out of which Physics and Mathematics are essential subjects.

BS Chemistry

Academic Requirement
Minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent and HSSC/equivalent exams OR any other foreign qualification with Chemistry as major subject along with Physics OR Mathematics.

Business Studies and Social Sciences

Academic Requirement
  • For BBA, BS Economics, BS Mass Communication, BS Public Administration, BS Psychology, LLB and BS Tourism and Hospitality Management, minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent and HSSC/equivalent exams.
  • For BS Accounting & Finance, minimum 60% aggregate marks each in Matric / equivalent and HSSC/equivalent exams with Mathematics or Accounting and Finance or Accountancy as one of the major subject.
SAT  Requirement
  • SAT Test ( SAT – I )
  • A minimum  of 550 score is required in each subject

  • A minimum  of 25 score is required in each subject
