Experts Stress Innovation, Digitalisation, and Investments Critical to Tackle Power Sector Challenges



NUST Advancement Office, in collaboration with U.S.-Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy at NUST and Pakistan Renewable Energy Coalition, organized a dialogue titled “Resolving Energy Sector Crisis Through Digitalization & Innovation” on the energy sector crisis in Pakistan on Monday, 6th March 2023.

 

The event brought together experts from the energy sector, policymakers, and representatives from various industries to discuss the challenges faced by the sector and the potential solutions through digitalization and innovation.

 

Principal USPCAS-E Dr Adeel Waqas delivered the opening remarks and highlighted the importance of the dialogue in addressing the current challenges faced by the energy sector. The conversation was joined by renowned economist and Principal School of Social Sciences & Humanities Dr. Ashfaq Hasan Khan, who shared his insights on policy, and Ms. Sadia Dada, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer K -Electric, who presented KE’s operational turnaround through innovation and digitalization.

 

The event also featured a panel discussion with representatives from multiple industries, including Mr. Amer Zia, Chief Distribution Officer at KElectric; Mr. Noorul Arfeen Zuberi, Senior Advisor at China Three Gorges South Asia Investment Limited; Mr. Naveed Qaiser, Senior Finance Manager at CPPA; and Dr. Kashif Imran, Associate Professor at USPCAS-E NUST.

 

The event was attended by students who actively participated in the discussion and asked relevant and meaningful questions. The dialogue highlighted the need for more such activities in the future to address the challenges faced by the energy sector and promote innovation and digitalization.

 

“We are delighted with the outcome of the dialogue, and we hope that it will contribute to resolving the energy sector crisis in Pakistan through digitalization and innovation,” remarked Pro-Rector RIC Dr. Rizwan Riaz, during his closing remarks and distribution of shields to the guests.
