P@SHA ICT Awards 2024



NUST Computer Engineering students from the Department of Computer & Software Engineering (CEME) achieved remarkable success at the Pakistan Software House Association (P@SHA) ICT Awards 2024, securing both Gold and Merit awards in the Tertiary Student Category.

Team Dermopsy won the prestigious Gold Award & Merit Awards for their innovative solution using deep learning for skin disease diagnosis. Dermopsy enables rapid, non-invasive cancer detection by virtually staining Reflectance Confocal Microscopy images. This groundbreaking project was developed in collaboration with NIDI Skin, a US-based dermatology organization, and the BIOMISA research lab. The team, comprising Mashaal Ibne Masha Allah, Ammad Ali, Abdullah Arshad, and Faizan Sohail (Batch 2024), was supervised by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman Akram, Assistant Prof. Dr. Asad Mansoor Khan, and Le Anum Abdul Salam.

Team HemAIDX received the Merit Award for their AI-driven virtual staining application for hematological diagnostics. HemAIDX leverages Generative AI to offer a faster, safer, and more cost-efficient alternative to traditional chemical staining, aiming to revolutionize hematology diagnostics in Pakistan. The team included undergraduate students Salva Nadeem, Musfirah Aslam, Shaheer Ahmad, and Rukhmah Aamir (Batch 2025), along with postgraduate students Kamran Khan, Saleha Eram, and PhD scholar Maham Nayab. The project was supervised by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Usman Akram, Assistant Prof. Dr. Asad Mansoor Khan, and Associate Prof. Dr. Zahra Rashid from the NUST School of Health Sciences. It is a collaborative effort between the BIOMISA Lab, NORI, and PIMS.
