Rector NUST Leads Water Conservation Awareness Walk, Announces Major Sustainability Projects
National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) demonstrated its unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability by organising a water conservation awareness walk at the Islamabad campus.
The initiative was led by Rector NUST, Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif, who was joined by Pro-Rectors and Principals of various schools and an overwhelming number of students and faculty members. The students carried their pledges and messages on placards related to water conservation and climate change as they participated in the walk. This campaign underscores the university’s collective dedication to tackling water-related challenges.
In his address, Rector NUST emphasized the pressing need for water conservation, highlighting the transformative potential of individual actions in preserving this essential resource. He called upon the NUST community to integrate efficient water usage practices into their daily lives while encouraging faculty, students and researchers to explore various solutions and avenues to address water conservation issues.
Furthermore, Dr Latif announced two landmark infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing water management on campus: A PKR 100 million sewage management project to regulate the passage of untreated sewage which is thrown openly by H13 and G13 Sectors into NUST Campus polluting its environment in adverse manner.
Additionally, NUST’s rain water harvesting with multi million Rupees investment for development of rainwater harvesting wells for strengthening groundwater replenishment efforts.
The Water Conservation Awareness Walk is a cornerstone of NUST’s comprehensive strategy to promote environmental responsibility.
