Dr Muhammad Waqas Alam Chattha and Dr Khurram Yousaf from Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences (ASAB), in collaboration with Director Student Affairs and Counselling (SAC) Mr. Ali Hasnain Sayed, have facilitated Nestlé Pakistan in developing the evaluation mechanism for various water-saving strategies to sensitise and provide doable and robust solutions to agricultural industry without compromising production and also the establishment of demonstration fields that will be used to evaluate and showcase agricultural techniques and technologies for the improvement in agricultural practices.
ASAB is further extending collaboration with Nestlé Pakistan in calculating the water application efficiency, and establishing a research site for evaluation and demonstration purposes at NUST.
Furthermore, different alternative irrigation strategies such as sprinkles and central pivot irrigation for row crops, including better water management practices will be techno-economically evaluated for a better understanding of water-saving and conservation.
