Usman Siddiqui, Abdul Aziz Chaudhary and Syed Hassaan Muzammil from SEECS declared 2nd runners up in Hult Prize Challenge 2021: Food for Good



NUST’s students are excellence personified, with their successive wins in local and international competitions. We are proud to announce that Usman Siddiqui, Abdul Aziz Chaudhary and Syed Hassaan Muzammil from BE Electrical Engineering at NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science SEECS have been declared 2nd runners up in Hult Challenge 2021: Food for Good.

Under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr Rafia Mumtaz, Head of Information Technology and Director IoT Lab at SEECS, these bright young students have developed an automated sensor board for Internet of Things & Machine Learning abled real time livestock monitoring – LiveIOT. This project envisages revolutionising traditional livestock practices to root out inefficiencies as well as improve livelihoods of farmers through better animal health and greater yield. The project incorporates UN SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health & Well Being), SDG 8 (Decent Work & Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). As NUST is an SDG-engaged university, this project adds to the multitude of successful and impactful SDG related research, innovation and development taking place in our Schools, Colleges and Centres.

The efforts of the students and their faculty supervisor, along with the brilliant faculty and management of SEECS, and the thriving and enabling ecosystem of NUST, are worthy of credit and praise for this and many such accomplishments.
