SEECS Faculty Member wins Women of Wonders Award for valued contributions in Precision Agriculture



Dr Rafia Mumtaz, Assistant Professor at NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS), received the Women of Wonders (WOW) Award 2021 for her valuable contributions in the field of Precision Agriculture.

Dr Rafia has secured national grants worth PKR 13 million and international grants amounting to GBP 19,000 in the field of Smart Agriculture. She has one design patent in this domain and has published five related research papers in the last two years, which have recent citations by more than 70 authors. Furthermore, she has forged strong collaborations, as a representative of NUST, with national organisations such as National Agriculture Research Council (NARC,) Engro Fertilizers and Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC.)

Dr Rafia was conferred the award on March 04, 2021, at WOW Awards Ceremony organised by Women of Wonders Pakistan ; an organisation working to highlight and acknowledge achievements by women and InspireMill; a community-building organisation creating growth opportunities for youth and women using technology and entrepreneurship. These awards are annually conferred upon Pakistani women for excellence in the categories of Art, Community Development/Pandemic & Crises, E-Commerce, Education, Health, Lifestyle & Beauty, Technology & Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Unconventional Business, Public Services, Food & Hospitality and Media.
