Secretary Ministry of Science & Technology visits NUST



Secretary Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST), Mr Nadeem Irshad Kayani, paid a visit to NUST on May 29, 2021. Flanked by senior management of the university, Rector NUST Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari greeted the esteemed guest on his arrival.

In a one-on-one meeting, the Rector felicitated the Secy on assuming his new role, emphasising that NUST would continue working hand-in-glove with the ministry to keep advancing in academics, research, innovation and various national level S&T based initiatives.

Later, the esteemed guest was given a comprehensive briefing on NUST’s genesis and evolution as one of the leading seats of higher learning in the world. The Secy extolled NUST on its fast-paced growth drawing upon quality higher education and cutting-edge research in a myriad of fields. He, inter alia, made special mention of the university’s flagship initiatives of N-ovative Health Technologies (NHT), Pakistan’s first facility for indigenous manufacturing of cardiac stents and other life-supporting medical devices, and National Science & Technology Park, the country’s first S&T Park, which is based on Quadruple Helix Model that would augur well for the socio-economic uplift of the country.

He also lauded NUST for taking outreach measures to bring the underprivileged into the mainstream of education, and stressed the need for taking the initiative to every nook and corner of the country.

The Rector expressed his gratitude to the honourable guest for his appreciation, and apprised him that NUST draws upon two fundamental elements, viz., first, zero compromise on merit and quality education and, second, optimum use of human resources and research infrastructure. Later, the dignitary was conducted to NHT.
