Team NUST Airworks runners-up in IMECHE UAS Challenge 2021 & winner of the Safety Award
We are proud to announce that Team NUST Airworks has been declared as a runner-up in United Kingdom’s International IMECHE Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Challenge 2021. The team has also been declared the winner of the Safety Award.
The competition is held every year in the UK by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers where university teams design, build, test and fly an Unmanned Aircraft System over a 9-month project cycle culminating in a live fly-off event held in the summer.
This year, the fly-off event was replaced with an X-Plane model simulation for more than 30 international teams competing virtually.
NUST Airworks, an undergraduate student team based at Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC), NUST, Karachi, comprises twenty-five electrical and mechanical engineering undergraduates from 1st to 4th year. The team developed a tailless blended wing body aircraft, Zephyr, whose main structure was composed of a fiber-glass shell with carbon fiber spars and plywood ribs internally.
NUST family congratulates them on this tremendous achievement!
