Federal Minister for Science & Technology Shibli Faraz pays maiden visit to NUST
Newly appointed Federal Minister for Science & Technology, Mr Shibli Faraz paid his maiden visit to NUST on April 26, 2021.
Upon arrival, the esteemed guest was received by Rector NUST Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari. Ensuing was a one-on-one meeting between the two at the latter’s office, followed by a comprehensive briefing on the functioning, multi-dimensional growth and future plans of NUST. The minister was all-praise for NUST on its coveted global standing drawing upon quality higher education, and the instrumental role it has been playing through cutting-edge R&D and multiple other initiatives to put the country’s economy on the path of sustainable growth.
He maintained that in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, the government is taking measures to not only create jobs but also ensure a conducive environment to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, adding that universities’ role is critical in producing job providers alongside job seekers. Stressing the need for inclusive growth, the minister extolled NUST for taking its outreach initiatives to the length and breadth of the country, in order to bring talented youth from far-flung and underprivileged areas to the mainstream of education. Later, the honourable guest was conducted on a guided tour of the campus.
