NUST handovers indigenously developed soil moisture meters to Agriculture Department Punjab as part of partnership
NUST signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with Agriculture Department Punjab at the Directorate of Water Management Resources in Lahore on June 16, 2021. As part of this ceremony, four soil moisture meters indigenously developed by the NUST faculty member Dr Shahzad Younis were handed over to the directorate to be tested in their farms.
The Water Management Directorate highlighted the key attributes of their ongoing projects that demand technology pertaining to agriculture and water conservation. There is an aim to build multiple technology centers to keep a check on weather and soil conditions. The ultimate purpose is to advise farmers in maintaining suitable moisture levels.
Other potential areas of collaboration were also identified where NUST and the Agriculture Department will conduct R&D on collaborative grounds.
