Diverse avenues of mutual cooperation discussed on visit of German Delegation to NUST

NUST Institute of Policy Studies (NIPS) hosted a multi-institutional delegation from Germany at NUST Islamabad Campus on March 1, 2022.

The Pak-German interaction saw a diverse discussion between delegation members and NUST officials, faculty, and students on the social, cultural, political, economic, scientific, technological, and security aspects of both countries. The occasion provided the opportunity for better mutual understanding, and for exploring the possibility of mutual cooperation in different areas and sectors. The delegation was also given a detailed presentation on NUST and its multidimensional strengths, as Pakistan’s premier higher education institution, in academics, research and development, innovation, and entrepreneurship promotion.

The delegation visited Pakistan’s first, high-tech special economic zone, National Science and Technology Park (NSTP), an NUST initiative, which hosts more than a hundred technology companies enjoying global innovation collaborations spanning North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. NUST Pro-Rector, Research, Innovation and Commercialisation, Air Vice Marshal Dr Rizwan Riaz, and Principal, NUST School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Dr Ashfaque Hasan Khan, made key interventions on the potential for research and innovation collaboration between Pakistan and Germany, and bilateral economic relations, respectively.

The session was co-moderated by Director, NIPS, Brigadier (Retd) Amir Yaqub, and Christoph Dinkelaker, the delegation coordinator. The session concluded with valuable suggestions from both sides on enhancing bilateral exchanges in the fields of culture, higher education, and science diplomacy.
