Inauguration Ceremony of the Pakistan-Japan Joint Internship Program at NUST’s Pakistan Japan Centre
Islamabad – The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), in collaboration with the Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC) and Plus W, inaugurated the Advanced IT Skills Development and Japanese Language Education Program at the Marriott Hotel, Islamabad.
The event, held on January 10, 2025, marked a significant milestone in NUST’s commitment to equipping graduates with advanced IT skills and Japanese language proficiency, preparing them for global career opportunities. Established at NSTP in 2022, the Pakistan Japan Centre for Mutual Cooperation has played a pivotal role in the program’s development and continues to foster international collaboration and innovation.
Representing NUST, Ms Arooba Gillani, Director of the University Advancement Office (UAO) & Vice Head of the Pakistan Japan Centre, delivered a speech emphasizing the university’s dedication to international partnerships and enhancing student employability. Out of the 54 students selected for the internship program, 14 are from NUST, reflecting the university’s active participation in global initiatives.
The program includes comprehensive training in IT and Japanese language, supervised by industry professionals from Japan, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for international opportunities.
Dignitaries such as the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, Mr Shuichi Akamatsu, the Ambassador of Pakistan to Japan, Mr Raza Bashir Tarar, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis & Human Resource Development, Mr. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and the Founder & CEO of Plus W, Ms Wakako Sakurai, attended the ceremony, further highlighting the significance of this collaborative effort.
This initiative symbolizes the enduring partnership between Pakistan and Japan, empowering youth to thrive in a global workforce while fostering stronger international ties.
