11th NUST International Model United Nations (NIMUN) opens Dialogue on “Forging the Future”
The much-awaited 11th edition of the NUST International Model United Nations (NIMUN), officially kicked off at the NUST Business School (NBS. This year’s theme “Forging the Future”, has brought together over 450 young minds from across Pakistan and around the world including enthusiasts from Tajikistan, Indonesia and Russia, to engage in critical discussions on global challenges, international issues, and cultivate essential leadership skills.
The opening ceremony was graced by the esteemed United Nations Resident Coordinator, Mohamed Yahya, who commended Pakistan’s dedication to the UN’s objectives and underscored the vital role of youth in achieving sustainable development and global peace. Dr Osman Hasan, Pro Rector (Academics), lauded the event’s theme and its focus on addressing pressing global issues.
Dr Naukhez Sarwar, Principal & Dean of NUST Business School, expressed gratitude to the esteemed guests and highlighted the unique opportunity NIMUN provides for delegates to hone their leadership skills and engage in constructive dialogue to address complex global challenges.
Over the next two days, participants will delve into critical global issues across various committees, including climate change, human rights, and international security. The event will also feature a diplomatic meet, providing a valuable platform for participants to network with diplomats, policymakers, and thought leaders. The educational simulation aims to enable students to become more engaged and gain understanding of international political issues and the UN while developing their communication, deliberation, leadership, and debating skills.
Beyond the rigorous academic sessions, NIMUN 25 will feature a vibrant array of social events, including an open networking session, a soulful Qawwali performance, and a cultural evening, encouraging collaboration, and celebrating the spirit of unity and diversity.
