NUST and Huawei Pakistan set to collaborate on AI talent development

NUST has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Pakistan to collaborate for the development of talent in Pakistan vis-a-vis Artificial Intelligence (AI). The agreement was solemnised at a ceremony held at NUST Islamabad Campus on May 7, 2021. Among others, the ceremony was graced by the presence of Engr Javed Mahmood Bukhari, Rector NUST; Mr Spacelee, Huawei Middle East Vice President; Mr Wuhan, Huawei Pakistan Deputy CEO; and Mr Kyle Zhang, Vice President of Huawei EBG Service.

Under the MoU, Huawei will share recent AI research with the NUST faculty and students, so that they may benefit from the most secure and advanced solutions to improve the value of their academic programmes. The latest collaboration also explores the possibilities to integrate Huawei’s AI HCIA/HCIP course contents into AI-related courses offered by NUST and, in so doing, boost ICT talent in Pakistan.

In his remarks, Rector NUST hoped that the cooperation would go a long way in nurturing AI talent in Pakistan, adding that the bilateral relationship between Huawei and NUST is characterised by feelings of mutual interest, respect and goodwill.

Meanwhile, Huawei Middle East Vice President said that Huawei attaches great importance to technology transfer and ICT talent cultivation in Pakistan. He made special mention of initiatives such as Seeds for the Future, AI Training and 51 Huawei ICT Academies that have been established throughout Pakistan and have certified 10,000 people.
