NUST Represents Pakistan in UK Engagement under Pakistan’s First Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Initiative
Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz recently visited the United Kingdom as part of Pakistan’s first-ever Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) initiative, developed in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan andthe British Council.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz engaged with five leading UK universities, including the University of Wolverhampton, the University of Birmingham, Aston University, the University of Warwick, and King’s College London. This official engagement focused on understanding the UK’s higher education quality frameworks and exploring practices to help create Pakistan’s own TEF model.
Her interactions with faculty and academic leaders provided valuable insights into quality assurance, teaching evaluation, and academic development. This initiative, led by a committed team, including Dr Tabbi Wilberforce, Dr.Freeha Azmat, and Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz, is designed to improve UG student learning outcomes and their experience in Pakistan. Their leadership will be instrumental in laying a strong foundation for this national-level reform.
The project benefits from strong support by UK education experts and institutions, including the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), Office for Students (OfS), and senior academics from King’s College London, University of Exeter, and others. Prof. Dr. Rafia Mumtaz’s active role reflects Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its higher education sector through global collaboration.
