NUST signs MoA with Engro Corporation Limited

NUST and Engro Corporation Ltd have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to establish long-term, sustainable, and mutually beneficial cooperation and collaboration in the areas of bilateral interest for promoting research, industrial linkages, training, and employment opportunities between the parties.

Pro-Rector RIC Dr Rizwan Riaz and Vice President Talent & Culture at Engro Ms Arshia Saqib signed the MoA in which both sides have agreed to work together on joint research projects that would help to resolve the key issues of industry and improve industrial efficiency. Engro would offer jobs for NUST graduates, as and when relevant vacancies are created in/for the partner organisations, and NUST will facilitate the partner organizations in all recruitment-related activities for NUST students and graduates, including on-campus recruitment drives, job fairs, seminars, workshop, training, events, as well as providing support in finding a suitable candidate by providing graduate profiles of the students.

Speaking at the occasion, Ms Arshia Saqib said that strong industry-academia linkages were very important to provide jobs and internship opportunities for students and graduates to get hands-on experience in their respective fields. She expressed Engro’s desire to hire skilled candidates and stated that partnership with NUST will help in harvesting talented candidates and coaching them with skills not taught in academia and skills needed to join and progress in professional life. Dr Rizwan Riaz praised the vision of Engro and said that NUST puts great emphasis on grooming its students with a prime focus to prepare them as the premium choice for employers. He emphasised that NUST graduates are equipped with all the skills necessary to serve in any part of the world and make positive contributions. He assured the officials from Engro of NUST’s full cooperation, assistance, and support in all endeavours.

Also present at the ceremony were Manager Talent Acquisition (Engro) – Mr. Syed Qasim Hassan, Deputy Manager Talent Acquisition (Engro) – Ms. Rukhama Mujtaba, General Manager Placements NUST Placement Office Ms. Arooba Gillani and her team.

The ceremony was followed by a campus tour which culminated with visits to Tufail Lab in SCME; conducted by Assistant Professor – Dr. Umair Sikander and National Science & Technology Park (NSTP), conducted by Director NSTP Dr. Salman Raza Naqvi.
