Muhammad Taimur Khan, a current BE Chemical student at SCME, has won the Masters Cup 2025, competing among Pakistan’s top table tennis players.

Competing among Pakistan’s top 32 men and 16 women national-ranking players from HEC, WAPDA, Army, OGDC, NHA, Chromatex, Sindh, Punjab and KPK, Taimur represented HEC Pakistan with distinction. The league-format tournament also served as a qualifier to select the National Team of Pakistan, which will now participate in the Islamic Games 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

NUST has entered into a strategic partnership with Saudi Pak Industrial & Agricultural Investment Company Limited through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration reinforces NUST’s ongoing commitment to driving professional excellence and fostering meaningful industry-academia linkages in Pakistan.

Through this MoU, NUST PDC and Saudi Pak will jointly work towards advancing capacity building and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The partnership is poised to open new avenues for professional training and executive development, further strengthening NUST’s role as a national leader in human capital development.

Ms Kubra Sattar, PhD scholar at the Department of Physics & Astronomy, NUST School of Natural Sciences (SNS) supervised by Prof Syed Rizwan Hussain (HoD), has been awarded the highly competitive, fully funded MAPEX-CF fellowship at Bremen University, Germany.

Specializing in two-dimensional MXene materials for memristors and data storage applications, Ms Sattar is collaborating with global experts to study the structural and optical properties of MXene, contributing to the advancement of future memory devices. Her research excellence includes two first-author publications in the Q1 journal Carbon (Impact Factor: 10.4), along with multiple co-authored papers.

Dr Faisal Abbas, Professor of Economics and Director of the Centre of Excellence on Population and Wellbeing Studies at the School of Social Sciences and Humanities (S3H), NUST, has been appointed as an Advisory Member of the Guideline Development Group (GDG) by the World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva.

The GDG comprises global experts who advise WHO on the technical development, organization, and dissemination of health recommendations. Dr Abbas brings his expertise in health economics, public health, and population studies to this prestigious platform, further strengthening NUST’s contribution to global health policy and research.

NUST Business School (NBS) has secured the prestigious British Council Disability Inclusion Partnerships (DIP) Grant, to advance accessibility in higher education.

The grant was awarded to Dr Fatima Saman Qaiser (Principal Investigator), Dr Lubaba Sadaf, and Professor Dr Asfia Obaid (Co-Principal Investigators) of NBS, in collaboration with Dr Seemab Farooqi (Principal Investigator) and Dr Ying Wu (Deputy & Co-Principal Investigator) from the University of Dundee, UK.

The project, Fostering Education Inclusion, aims to strengthen digital accessibility, inclusive teaching strategies and peer support networks for differently-abled students. It aligns with multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting NUST’s commitment to inclusive and globally impactful education.

NUST has officially launched the NUST Disability Resource Center (NDRC), a first-of-its-kind institutional platform within Pakistan’s higher education landscape, dedicated to advancing disability inclusion across all NUST campuses.
Located at the RIC Building, the NDRC reflects NUST’s unwavering commitment to inclusive excellence. The Center is envisioned as a cornerstone in embedding accessibility, inclusive policy frameworks, assistive technologies and data-driven research within the university ecosystem.
Through this initiative, NUST is setting a national precedent by working towards an academic and social environment where persons with disabilities are fully empowered to thrive. The launch of NDRC marks a significant step in actualizing NUST’s vision of equity, access, and innovation ensuring that no NUSTian is left behind.

Prof Dr Syed Ali Hassan of SEECS has been awarded a prestigious research grant under the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme.

His project, “Shielding HAPS against Intelligent Link Level Attacks,” has secured funding over three years. The initiative explores advanced solutions to secure high altitude platforms (HAPS), future 6G satellite communication base stations, against evolving security threats.

Prof Ali will serve as NATO Partner Country Project Director, collaborating with Dr Sohaib J Solaija from Gebze Technical University, Türkiye, who serves as the NATO Country Project Director. Notably, Dr Solaija is a proud NUST alumnus and former student of Prof Ali, making this collaboration a moment of pride for the NUST community.

Dr Mohsin Kamal of SEECS has been awarded a prestigious research grant under the NATO Science for Peace and Security (SPS) Programme.

The project, titled “Secure Integrated Sensing and Communications (Secure ISAC),” brings together leading researchers from Pakistan, Türkiye and beyond to develop secure, AI-driven communication systems for 6G networks, smart cities, and defense applications.

Dr Kamal will serve as Co-Director, representing NUST and Pakistan alongside Prof Dr Hüseyin Arslan (Istanbul Medipol University, Türkiye) and Prof Dr Muhammad Tariq (NUCES-FAST).

His leadership in IoT and cyber-physical security reflects NUST’s growing impact in global scientific collaboration and innovation.
