SUBJECTS INCLUDED IN NET WITH WEIGHTINGS



NET paper(s) will be based on the Academic Qualification selected by candidate while applying for admission. The broad categories of NET papers are as under:-

NET-Engineering (HSSC Pre-Engineering group / equivalent)

Physics ​30%
​Chemistry ​15%
​English ​10%
​Intelligence ​5%
  • The said test will be conducted for candidates seeking admission in all Engineering and Computing Programmes.
  • Candidate seeking admission in Engineering can also opt for admission in BS Mathematics, BS Physics, BS Chemistry and BS Food Science & Technology programmes without payment of additional registration fee and appearing in a separate test.
  • Merit of BS Mathematics, BS Physics, BS Chemistry and BS Food Science & Technology programmes will be generated on the basis of total NET-Engineering marks.
  • Previous policy of equating the NET marks of different subjects will not be followed.
  • This option is not applicable to DAE candidates.
  • Candidate with Pre-Engg with Additional Bio OR Pre-Med with Additional Math OR equivalent, applying for Engineering or Computing Programmes will appear in NET-Engineering paper.

NET-Computing (HSSC Computer Science group / equivalent)

  • @ Candidates with Pre-Engineering background as declared in Online Registration Form will be given test of Chemistry instead of Computer Science.
  • Computer Science group with combination of Maths, Physics and Computer Science
    • Candidates can apply for all Engineering and Computing programmes.
    • Candidates may opt for BS Mathematics and BS Physics without payment of additional registration fee and appearing in a separate test.
    • Merit of these programmes will be generated on the basis of total NET-Computing marks.
  • HSSC with Mathematics as a major subject
    • Candidates can apply for the Computing programmes (BS Computer Science, BS Data Science, BS Bioinformatics and BS Artificial Intelligence).
    • Candidates may opt for BS Mathematics without payment of additional registration fee and appearing in a separate test.
    • Merit of BS Mathematics will be generated on the basis of total NET-Computing marks.

NET-Applied Sciences (HSSC Pre-Medical group / equivalent)

Biology ​30%

Chemistry ​25%

​Intelligence ​5%
  • The test is for BS Biotechnology / BS Environmental Science / BS Food Science & Technology and BS Agriculture programmes as well as Computing Programmes (BS Computer Science, BS Data Science, BS Bioinformatics and BS Artificial Intelligence)
  • No separate test for computing domain as per the previous practice will be conducted.
  • The candidates may opt for BS Chemistry without payment of additional registration fee and appearing in a separate test.
  • Merit for BS Chemistry will be generated on the basis of total marks obtained in NET-Applied Sciences marks.

NET-Business Studies & Social Sciences (HSSC with any combination)
